Chicago River Bridges
Clark Street · Chicago River
This photograph was made on the Chicago Riverwalk at sunrise on a fall morning, standing at the point where the Clark, LaSalle, and Wells Street bridges layer across the river in close succession.
The early light came in low and warm, catching the red iron lattice of the bridge in the foreground and the brick clock tower of the old Reid Murdoch Building just behind it. The glass towers beyond held the last cool gray of night while the sky shifted into a pale amber glow. Everything lined up the way it only does for a few minutes, on a few mornings a year.
