Pompidou After Dark

Centre Pompidou · Paris

The glowing escalators, layered steel structure, and rich evening light give this image of the Centre Pompidou a clean, cinematic presence.

After dinner with my wife and our two grandsons, we came upon the Centre Pompidou glowing against the night, and I had to stop and make this photograph. What drew me in was the way the lit escalators cut through the dark structure like ribbons of light, turning a famous Paris landmark into something intimate, vivid, and unforgettable.
